Michael Hamilton BEACH Obituary

BEACH, Michael Hamilton 

passed July 14, 2016, following a bicycling accident. Born in Longview, TX, Aug. 18, 1944, he grew up in Pinellas County, and spent most of his adult years in Hillsborough County. Michael graduated from University of South Florida in 1966 with a BA in Theatre Arts. He served in the U.S. Army Special Services from 1966-1970, stationed part of that time in Italy. Following his military service he returned to USF and obtained a BS in Engineering in Structures, Materials, and Fluids in 1980, and an MS in Civil Engineering in 1993. Michael worked at the Southwest Florida Water Management District from 1988 to 2010, when he retired. After retirement, Michael pursued his passion for hiking, cycling, and photography. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Hamilton and Lillian Alice Beach. Michael's surviving family includes his elder daughter, Kelly Beach of Hollywood, FL and Alexandra Beach of Temple Terrace; his sister, Patricia Beach of Naples; younger brother, Scott Beach and sister-in-law, Janet Beach of Panama City Beach, a close friend and companion, Gail Snowdon of Champagne, IL. Some of Michael's photographs may be seen at http/michaelbeach.smugmug.com. A memorial service will be held at the Omar K. Lightfoot Center, 10901 N. 56th St., Temple Terrace, at 10 am, Nov. 13. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Michael's memory to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
