Mary Fincher Wells departed this life peacefully. After graduating from CHS, Mary attended Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC, where she met her future husband Milton (Maynard) Wells. They married in 1966 and moved to Ashland, VA. While the happy couple lived in Ashland, Mary became the mother of two sons. In 1994, Mary went to work as a clerk to the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court in Hanover County. After Maynard's passing, Mary rekinkled a friendship with a college friend, Bud Beattie and his two daughters. They were great additions to Mary's extended family.
Mary loved all creatures, flowers, the beach where she became involved with rescue and release of sea turtules at Topsail Beach. Mary was a member of Ashland Junior Woman's Club, where she served as President and later as Lee District Jr. Director of the Woman's Clubs of Virginia. Mary's main love was her family and friends especially her grandchildren, Preston and Liza. Mary was blessed with a loving family and many wonderful friends. She will be missed.
I only knew Mary in the halls of CHS. That was a wonderful story of Mary's life. I HATE losing any of our classmates. We are ALL too young to go at this age. Lynn
